The name
Saruq Al Hadid, literally "the Saruq of iron," is an archaeological site in the Rub' al Khali desert, about 70 km south of Dubai. From around 2600 BCE to around 1000 BCE it was a centre of trade and metallurgy. Its furnaces smelted bronze, copper, and iron. Its goldsmiths worked fine jewellery. Its merchants traded with Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, the Levant, and sub-Saharan Africa.
The site sits far from any natural water source. It was inhospitable by accident of geography and survived only by deliberate position on a trade route. Without commerce, the place was unviable. With commerce, it became a city.
Then the desert buried it, and the world forgot. It was rediscovered in 2002 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, while flying his helicopter across the Empty Quarter. He ordered excavations and championed the site. The Saruq Al Hadid Archaeology Museum opened in 2016. More than 12,000 artefacts have been excavated, including the Iron Age gold ring that has become a symbol of Dubai.
Saruq is the 3,000-year-old name for the trade-route convergence point in what is now the UAE. A place where capital, craft, and counterparties from across the ancient world met — discovered, lost, and rediscovered by the Ruler of Dubai. We do the same work, in a continuous line.
Why it carries the firm
-
The convergence point
Saruq was where capital, craft, materials, and counterparties from across the ancient world met. Our work is to connect opportunities across Europe, the UAE, KSA, Africa, and LATAM. The same work, in a continuous line.
-
Raw material into value
Saruq's economy turned ore into finished goods that endured. Advisory is the same operation in a different register: raw business situations turned, through judgment, into outcomes that last.
-
Three thousand years of commerce
Saruq is evidence that the UAE's commercial identity is not a fifty-year phenomenon. We operate inside a continuous tradition, not on top of one.
-
Buried excellence, brought to light
The site was lost, then found. Diligence, structural analysis, and the discovery of hidden value are the contemporary form of the same act.
-
The Ruler's initiative
Saruq is Sheikh Mohammed's discovery. The name sits with the Ruler of Dubai's chosen heritage narrative.
How we work
We are a small firm. Our partners do the work. The person who wins the mandate is the person in the room when it closes.
We stay through execution. Advice that stops at the recommendation is half the job. We are measured by what happens next, not by what was proposed.
We say what we think. Confidentiality and candour, in equal measure. The standard is the one a global house would set, with no exception for region, size, or fee.
Reach
We work through a partner network across five corridors. The footprint is a filter, not a claim to cover every market.
- UAE
- Home base. Dubai headquarters, direct delivery.
- KSA
- Direct delivery through in-region partners.
- Europe
- Partner network, with direct delivery on selected engagements.
- Africa
- Partner network for entry, capital, and intelligence flows.
- LATAM
- Partner network for capital flows and cross-corridor mandates.
